"Benvenuti a Glenlossie"
Welcome To The Stone Mason's Distillery
The property on which the Stonemason’s Distillery is situated was one of the first settled in Kojonup around 1846. Just north of the town, it was blessed with water and many rocks and stones which were used to build a substantial home and later stone outbuildings. The property now known as Glenlossie has a history marked with such variety that it would make a good book.
Its second owner, Thomas Chipper was a constable turned mailman – using the property to build several stables to house his horses - needed to ensure the mail from Albany to Perth continued to run. The fourth owner, Frederick Watts built extensions on the house and a large stone barn and established an orchard - remnants of which can still be seen today. The sixth owner J. McHenry Clark was a member of the Kojonup Road’s board and he changed the property’s name from SpringVilla to Glenlossie. However, he is perhaps most famous for his death – shot (accidentally?) by his son-in-law – they say his ghost still haunts the house.
